Baltra Island

Most visitors to the Galapagos Islands arrive at Baltra airport. Once a WWII airstrip, Baltra island became the world’s first “green” airport in December 2012.

The new airport was designed with the environment in consideration. It was constructed from recycled Amazonian mining steel and utilizes green energy such as solar and wind power.

"We are so happy we decided to do a land based tour with Galapagos Alternative. It's the best way to go! They make the process of traveling to the islands simple and don't overcharge. Their use of local tour companies stimulates the local economy and gets you right in the middle of all the action on the islands."
