Baltra Island

Welcome to the Galapagos

Most visitors to the Galapagos Islands arrive at Baltra airport. Once a WWII airstrip, Baltra island became the world’s first “green” airport in December 2012.

The new airport was designed with the environment in consideration. It was constructed from recycled Amazonian mining steel and utilizes green energy such as solar and wind power.

"Just got back from a 12-day trip to the Galapagos arranged thru Galapagos Alternative and everything was exceptional. From the tours, to the transfers, flights, and most importantly the people... everything was smooth. Highly recommend it!"
